Brother and Sister Thacker,
I
just wanted to thank you for your son. Let me introduce myself.
Bret Wightman is my name. I served almost 40 years ago in the England
Bristol Mission, which I know your son served briefly in the same area
although it's been changed a lot geographically since serving. My
wife and I just finished dinner with your son and Elder Bogle and Elder
Smith, which was a most terrific pleasure to do so. We just finished a
baptismal service with a young lady Caitlyn who up until recently was never
actually asked to commit to baptism, and since she was under aged had to get
parental permission. I don't know what took so long for this to come
about but, because of your son and Elder Bogle she was committed and permission
granted to see this through. It was a most sweet and spiritual hour we've
experienced in a long time. Assumptions were made by other companionships
or they never had enough faith as I have observed to even bother asking the
parents for consent. Until your son came to Greeley. I being the
ward mission leader had the distinct blessing to conduct. And yes
Caitlyn's parents attended and sat close to the font. All the talks and
songs and words spoken were incredible. The spirit of the Lord was felt
by all. The relief society room was packed to capacity, standing
room only. My gratitude and appreciation for your son's service is truly
what our ward needed. Like we used to say on my particular mission, there were
those who are on fire, and your son is no exception. What a bright and
wonderful young man he is with the light of The Lord Jesus Christ burning in
his countenance. I thank you for him , and so as he is headed
off to serve as a Zone Leader in Casper (don't know if you know this yet) he'll
be an asset there like he was here only as a greater force for good to other
missionaries in his new area and to those to whom he teaches. I know
first hand how parents of faithful sons or daughters serving the Lord full time
love these kind of messages. We have been on a multitude of splits
together during his short stay here. I just say thanks for bringing up an
amazing and incredible son of God. I love that boy of yours.
